Son de poliester metalizado, se reconocen por su forma prismática. Su tolerancia es del 5 %. Y su valor viene indicado en su encapsulado. Su capacidad es del orden de los nF.

​

Se dice: que los capacitores tipo MK si se perfora la aislación la película conductora se vaporiza restituyéndose la aislación, con lo que en general se extingue el cortocircuito.

Se suelen usar para compensar el factor de potencia.

 

Un ejemplo de su capacidad:

Valor 103 se corresponde con 10.000 pF, o sea 10 nF.

ALE = Aluminium Elektrolyt = polarized (DC) electrolytic cap
TAP = Tantal = polarized tantalum caps
FKC= see MKC, except they use metal foil.
FKP= see MKP, except they are definately built with metal foil.
FKT (rare)= MKT except they are made with metal foil.
KP = MKP, except the tolerance class is very low (~2.5-3%)
MKI = Metallisierter Kunststoff (polyphenylensulfid) = metallized PPS
MKK/MKV = Compensation caps made from different materials for
high voltage AC usage
